Locum Tenens Surgical Oncologist (Board-Certified, Fellowship) — Tacoma, WA

We’re seeking a board-certified Surgical Oncologist to provide locum tenens coverage in Tacoma, WA (98405). This role combines outpatient, inpatient, and telehealth care with clinical duties plus in-house call. Coverage is needed ASAP and will be ongoing.

Schedule and call

• In-house call with a 1:5 rotation.
• Typical call response time: 0–30 minutes.

Clinical volume and responsibilities

• Average clinic volume is about 20 patients per day.
• Expect 2–4 admissions and daily rounding responsibilities (both inpatient and outpatient).
• Around five phone consults per day.
• Coverage includes both clinical care and call duties.

Facility and support

• The system uses Epic for documentation.
• You’ll be supported by a care team that typically includes 1 RN, 1–2 MAs, 1 PA/NP, and about 15 office staff.
• Hospital privileges are required; temporary privileges can be arranged.

Procedures (required and preferred)
Required skills include general adult surgery and laparoscopic techniques, hysterectomy, ventilation management, chest tube and central line insertion, PA catheter placement, laser certification, peripheral vascular access devices, and AV shunt procedures.
Preferred experience includes appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, Nissen fundoplication, D&C, liver surgery, GI endoscopy (upper and lower), sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, minor orthopedics, and hand surgery.

Credentials and logistics

• Board certified (BC) required; fellowship required.
• Must be licensed in Washington or hold an IMLC/Universal License.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance will be covered by the agency.
