We’re looking for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to provide locum tenens coverage in Eureka, California (95501). This is an outpatient, clinical-only assignment beginning July 20, 2024 and continuing on an ongoing basis. Typical schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with a specific initial block of shifts from July 20–24, 2024 (7a–4p, Saturday–Wednesday). The engagement is needed for scheduling coverage; travel, lodging, and malpractice are covered by the vendor.

Caseload and setting

  • Average volume is about eight patients per day in an outpatient facility using Epic.
  • Support staff include 12 RNs and 6 office staff.
  • Hospital privileges are required.

Clinical scope
Required competencies:

  • General anesthesia for adults and pediatrics
  • Airway and ventilation management
  • Evaluation and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues

Preferred experience (helpful but not mandatory):

  • Neonatal and trauma cases
  • Spinal and epidural anesthesia, regional techniques, postop epidurals and extremity blocks
  • Obstetrical, neurosurgical (head, spine), thoracic (non–open heart), open heart, complex vascular and orthopedic cases
  • Pain-management procedures, epidural steroid injections, transforaminal injections, and use of x‑ray guidance for blocks
  • Vascular access skills: central line, arterial line, PA catheter placement
  • Experience supervising CRNAs

Requirements and credentials

  • Board eligible (required)
  • Active CA license and DEA registration
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Clean professional record (no large settlements, DUIs/drug issues, restrictions, terminations, or medical board actions)
  • Must provide RFA, CV, and 24 months of relevant activity; references should be available on short notice

Core duties

  • Administer general, regional, and monitored anesthesia care
  • Perform pre‑anesthetic assessments and evaluations
  • Manage airway and ventilation; monitor and titrate anesthesia and vital signs
  • Provide post‑anesthesia care and acute pain management
