Rate: $2,434 / 36 hours

Minimum Qualifications

• Active RN license in Montana
• Graduate of accredited nursing program; HS diploma/GED plus nursing degree
• BLS, ACLS, PALS current
• Minimum 2 years RN experience, including recent critical care
• Recent open-heart recovery / immediate postoperative open-heart experience required (able to care for immediate post-op open-heart patient on day one)

Clinical Skills & Knowledge

• Advanced nursing principles and critical care skills
• CVICU/open-heart experience preferred
• Proficient with invasive hemodynamic monitoring (A-lines, central lines), chest tubes, NG tubes, continuous bladder irrigation
• Competent with multiple IV pumps and short-term ventilatory support (noninvasive and invasive)
• Basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation
• Ability to operate advanced medical equipment and perform skilled assessments/interventions for potentially deteriorating patients

Patient Population

• Hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable cardiac medical-surgical patients
• Pre/post PCI, pacemaker, revascularization, carotid endarterectomy, thoracotomy
• CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT/PE, sepsis
• Pediatric patients as indicated
• General medical and surgical in-patient care

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning
• Monitor and manage invasive lines, ventilatory support, chest tubes, and other advanced modalities
• Assess patients, recognize deterioration, and implement interventions per established policies with minimal supervision
• Provide physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients and families
• Function as clinical leader: assist with precepting and mentor staff as needed

Schedule & Workload

• Night shift; typical assignment includes care of post-op open-heart and cardiac-surgical patients in an inpatient cardiac unit
