Patient Population and Case Mix

  • 100% inpatient vascular neurosurgical patients
  • Expected annual volumes: 170+ mechanical thrombectomies, 100+ intracranial aneurysm cases
  • Typical cases: mechanical thrombectomy, ruptured/complex intracranial aneurysms, subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracranial hemorrhage, AVMs, dAVFs, carotid/intracranial occlusive disease
  • Rounding: Not required
  • Phone consults: Yes

Facility and Support

  • Facility size: 929 licensed beds
  • Trauma designation: Level I
  • EMR: Epic
  • Support: Neurocritical care, stroke neurology, anesthesia, emergency medicine, dedicated Neuro ICU, 24/7 APP support
  • Specialty backup and 24/7 Advanced Practice Provider coverage available

Privileges, Credentialing, Compliance

  • Hospital privileges required (temporary privileges not available)
  • Credentialing timeline: 30–90 days

Required Procedures and Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated vascular neurosurgical call coverage only (no spine, tumor, trauma, or general neurosurgery)
  • ED and inpatient consults for urgent/emergent cerebrovascular disease
  • Interpret advanced cerebrovascular imaging; perform diagnostic cerebral angiography
  • Perform mechanical thrombectomy, endovascular aneurysm treatments, and other neuroendovascular procedures
  • Manage peri-procedural inpatient care for cerebrovascular disease
  • Perform open vascular neurosurgical procedures when appropriate
  • Manage ruptured and complex intracranial aneurysms, AVMs, dAVFs

Qualifications

  • Fellowship-trained Endovascular Neurosurgeon
  • Board certified
  • Active state medical license or Active Universal License (IMLC)
  • Active DEA registration
  • Covid and flu vaccination required
  • Experience: state overall years of practice and years of locum experience
  • EMR/Epic experience required
  • References: 2 supervisors and 1 peer from the past 12 months
  • Self-query NPDB report dated within 30 days
  • Indicate home base (where provider will be traveling from)
