Job Description Summary:

The Orthopedics/Hand Surgery Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides specialized care for patients with hand, wrist, elbow, and upper extremity conditions in collaboration with orthopedic hand surgeons and a multidisciplinary care team. This provider delivers comprehensive patient care across the continuum, including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, postoperative management, and patient education. The APRN plays a key role in helping patients restore function, improve mobility, reduce pain, and achieve optimal outcomes through AdventHealth's commitment to whole-person care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of orthopedic and hand surgery practices, procedures, and patient management.
  • Ability to evaluate, diagnose, and treat musculoskeletal and upper extremity conditions.
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results.
  • Knowledge of preoperative and postoperative orthopedic patient care.
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with orthopedic surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and clinical documentation.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care aligned with AdventHealth's whole-person care philosophy.
