Locum tenens position in San Francisco, CA for an acute-care adolescent psychiatric unit. Assignment covers clinical duties plus phone call responsibilities from 09/28/2026 for 26 weeks. Typical clinical schedule is Monday and Tuesday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with options for two full weeks of weekday coverage. On-call expectations include night phone call on Monday/Tuesday and 24-hour weekend phone call; call frequency averages two weekends per month with response as needed. Admissions may require orders during night call; weekend rounding begins at 8:00 AM.
Patient population: adolescents (6–12 patients daily) with a full child and adolescent psychiatry case mix. Responsibilities include psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, crisis intervention, placing admission orders when required, and documentation in Epic. Work closely with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary behavioral health team (psychiatry, nursing, and allied health staff).
Facility supports an adolescent psychiatric unit with standard inpatient resources and specialty backup. Required credentials: active California medical license, active DEA, and board certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry—or board-certified in General Psychiatry with completion of a CAP fellowship. Prior child and adolescent psychiatry experience and strong skills in psychopharmacology, adolescent development, family systems, de-escalation, multidisciplinary leadership, and collaborative care are required. Hospital privileges are necessary; credentialing typically takes 60–90 days.
Compensation: rate TBD. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance provided.
