Position Details
- 19 bed Emergency Department, Level II Trauma Center, main regional referral center for the Upper Peninsula.
- 12 hour Emergency Department shifts, 9 am to 9 pm
- 10 -11 shifts per month: benefitted position
- Rotating weekend and holiday schedule.
- Approximately 1.6 patients per hour average
- PA works in main ER department, no dedicated fast tract/express care
- Covers Provider in Triage role when volume demands
- Single PA coverage working with 1-2 board certified Emergency Medicine Physicians in the department.
- 12 hours of PA coverage daily, 34 hours of physician coverage
- Collegial and supportive practice environment, supportive supervising physicians
- Cerner EMR system in the Emergency Department and hospital
- Full lab and radiographic support including US, CT, MRI capability
Qualifications Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistance
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan
- State of Michigan controlled substance license required
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved BLS, ACLS and ATLS
The preferred candidate will have experience as a physician assistant in an emergency department setting that includes adults and children, as well as competence performing standard emergency department procedures.
