Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon — Lima, OH (24‑Hour Call, Level II Trauma)

We are seeking a locum cardiothoracic surgeon to provide hospital-based coverage in Lima, Ohio. This role supports a Level II Trauma Center and focuses on adult patients requiring complex cardiothoracic procedures.

Assignment details

• Setting: Hospital-based, Level II Trauma Center in Lima, Ohio
• Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
• Coverage: 10–14 call days per month, including weekends
• Average caseload: ~1 surgical case per day
• EMR: Epic

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery call coverage, including emergent and scheduled cases
• Evaluate and manage adult patients preoperatively, intraoperatively and postoperatively
• Perform complex procedures and daily inpatient rounding with postoperative management
• Collaborate with cardiology, critical care, anesthesia, advanced practice providers and nursing to ensure coordinated care
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in Epic

Required procedural proficiency

• Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
• Arterial revascularization (internal mammary, radial, gastroepiploic arteries)
• Redo coronary revascularization (with or without valve surgery)
• Pericardial window
• Heart valve repair and replacement, including mitral valve repair

Qualifications

• Board certified in cardiothoracic surgery with completion of an accredited fellowship
• Active, unrestricted Ohio medical license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileges
