Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery PA/NP — 24‑Hour Call, First‑Assist + Vein Harvesting (Lincoln, NE)

Scope
Provide comprehensive perioperative and on-call coverage for cardiothoracic surgery patients, including first assist duties and vein harvesting.

Key responsibilities

• First assist in a range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
• Perform endoscopic and/or open saphenous vein harvesting.
• Manage perioperative care: preoperative assessment, intraoperative support, and postoperative management.
• Participate in 24-hour call rotation: overnight phone triage and emergent operative cases as needed.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic.

Required qualifications

• Board-certified Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
• Active Nebraska PA or NP license.
• Extensive cardiothoracic surgery experience with demonstrated proficiency as a first assist.
• Experience performing vein harvesting (endoscopic and/or open).

Preferred

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
