About This Opportunity
Sequoyah Staffing Agency is currently seeking experienced Family Nurse Practitioners (FNPs) for an upcoming opportunity supporting the Indian Health Service (IHS) at Fort Yuma Health Care Center (FYHCC) in Winterhaven, California.
We are building a strong pool of qualified healthcare professionals to include in our proposal for this anticipated opportunity.
Position Overview
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) will provide comprehensive same-day and acute ambulatory healthcare services in a collaborative outpatient setting. The selected provider will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients while practicing independently within the scope of their licensure and granted clinical privileges.
This position offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while serving Native American communities through the Indian Health Service. Providers will work alongside an interdisciplinary healthcare team committed to improving access to quality healthcare in a culturally respectful environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Family Nurse Practitioner will:
-
Provide comprehensive same-day and acute ambulatory care services.
-
Perform patient assessments, obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, and develop individualized treatment plans.
-
Evaluate, diagnose, treat, stabilize, and appropriately manage patients within the scope of practice and granted clinical privileges.
-
Order, interpret, and document laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other medically appropriate diagnostic testing.

Prescribe medications, therapeutic treatments, and other clinical interventions as authorized.

Perform minor office procedures consistent with education, training, and clinical privileges.

Coordinate referrals, specialty consultations, and higher levels of care when clinically indicated.

Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations.

Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the Government Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Promote patient safety, infection prevention, quality improvement initiatives, and culturally respectful patient care.

Participate in orientation, peer review, quality assurance, and other required clinical activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Qualified candidates must possess:
-
Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
-
Current Family Nurse Practitioner certification through AANP, ANCC, or an equivalent nationally recognized certifying organization.

Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in any U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. Territory.

Minimum of two (2) years of recent clinical experience in ambulatory care, primary care, urgent care, or a closely related outpatient setting.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
-
Experience utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Ability to successfully obtain and maintain Government security access, credentialing, clinical privileges, and all required onboarding approvals.

Compliance with continuing education, immunization, and mandatory training requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference may be given to candidates with:
-
Previous Indian Health Service (IHS), Tribal Health, Veterans Affairs (VA), Department of Defense (DoD), or other Federal healthcare experience.

Experience providing care in rural or medically underserved communities.

Strong clinical decision-making and independent practice skills.
-
Excellent communication, collaboration, and patient education abilities.

A commitment to culturally competent, patient-centered care.
