Compensation & Logistics

Clinical Expectations
- Provide on-call orthopedic coverage for the ED at UP Health System Portage
- Respond to ED consults (fractures, sports injuries, general orthopedics)
- Perform surgical procedures as required
- Rounding as needed (inpatient and outpatient)
- Expected phone consults: 0–5 per day; admissions: 0–1 per day
- Average daily volume: variable
Case Mix
- Fractures, sports medicine, general orthopedics
Required Procedures
- Required: arthroscopy; total joint replacement (hip, knee, other); joint revision/repair (shoulder, hip, knee)
- Preferred: tendon release/repair; other peripheral procedures; spine procedures without instrumentation (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, percutaneous disc)
Facility & Support
- Trauma Level III
- EMR: MediTech
- Specialty backup: General Surgery and Orthopaedic PA support
Privileges & Compliance
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges available
Provider Qualifications
- Board: ABOS required (minimum: eligible)
- State License: Michigan license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC)
- DEA: Michigan DEA required

- Participate in facility orientation and follow institutional protocols
- Collaborate with orthopaedic PAs and surgical staff
