Locums Nocturnist Emergency Medicine Physician — West Palm Beach, FL

Location: West Palm Beach, Florida

Position Overview

• Role: Locum Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician for PM/nocturnist coverage (ongoing PRN)
• Schedule: 12-hour evening/overnight shifts (options)
  • 5:00 PM–5:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
  • 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Minimum commitment: 4–6 shifts per month
• Call: none required
• Duration: ongoing, no defined end date

Facility

• ED annual volume: ~60,000 visits
• ED beds: 22; recently renovated with advanced imaging
• Typical patient throughput: ~2–3 patients/hour (varies by shift/census)
• Admission rate: 17%
• Pediatric volume: 15%
• Critical care rate: 9%
• EMR: Meditech (eMAR and EDM)

Clinical Environment

• Manage adult and pediatric emergency patients across the acuity spectrum, including critical care
• Fast-paced department with strong specialty support and collaborative team structure

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat emergency presentations
• Perform emergency procedures appropriate to EM scope of practice
• Stabilize critically ill and injured patients
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostics
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, nursing, APPs, and ancillary teams for timely, patient-centered care
• Accurately document encounters in the electronic medical record

Team Structure

• Per shift: 8 emergency physicians and 6 advanced practice providers
• Multidisciplinary, collaborative care model

• Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center
• The Joint Commission recognition for performance on key quality measures
• Largest provider of behavioral health services in Palm Beach County

Qualifications

• Board certification in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
• Active Florida medical license
• Current DEA registration
• ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
