Locums Cardiology Nurse Practitioner — Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation (McAllen, TX)

An outpatient cardiac rehabilitation clinic in McAllen, Texas seeks an experienced locum Nurse Practitioner for an 18‑week assignment. This role offers dedicated outpatient care in a medical office building adjacent to the hospital, with no hospital rounding, bedside care, invasive procedures, or cath lab duties.

Schedule and Setting

• Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with a one‑hour lunch break
• Last scheduled patient at 4:30 PM
• No weekends, call, or inpatient responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients enrolled in outpatient cardiac rehabilitation
• Perform new patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
• Monitor progress and adjust care plans as needed
• Provide patient education on medications, exercise, heart‑healthy lifestyle changes, and risk‑factor management
• Collaborate with cardiologists, rehab staff, nurses, and ancillary team members to optimize outcomes
• Accurately document encounters in the electronic medical record (ScottCare VersaCare)

Patient Volume

• Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: ~16 follow‑up patients per day
• Tuesday, Friday: ~2–4 new patient evaluations per day

Qualifications

• Board‑certified Nurse Practitioner with previous cardiac rehabilitation experience
• Experience in an outpatient cardiology setting
• Active Texas NP license; current DEA registration if applicable
• Strong communication and patient‑education skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency highly preferred
