Job Description
We’re looking for a Board‑Certified Emergency Medicine physician to provide PM/nocturnist locum coverage at a busy West Palm Beach emergency department. You’ll work evening and overnight 12‑hour shifts (options: 5 PM–5 AM, 6 PM–6 AM, or 7 PM–7 AM) on an ongoing PRN basis with a minimum commitment of 4–6 shifts per month. No call is required.
About the ED
This 22‑bed, recently renovated department sees roughly 60,000 visits a year and is equipped with advanced imaging. Typical patient flow averages about 2–3 patients per hour depending on shift and census. The admission rate is approximately 17%, pediatric cases make up about 15% of volume, and critical care cases about 9%. The facility uses Meditech (with eMAR and EDM).
What you’ll do
You’ll evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of emergency conditions for both adults and children—from low‑acuity complaints to critically ill patients. Responsibilities include performing emergency procedures, stabilizing critically ill or injured patients, ordering and interpreting labs and imaging, and documenting patient encounters accurately in the EMR. You’ll collaborate closely with emergency physicians, specialists, nursing staff, APPs, and ancillary teams to deliver timely, patient‑centered care in a fast‑paced but highly supportive environment.
Team and environment
Shifts typically include eight emergency physicians and six advanced practice providers, fostering a truly multidisciplinary and collaborative atmosphere. Strong specialty support is available when needed.
Facility recognitions
The hospital holds an Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center, is recognized by The Joint Commission for performance on key quality measures, and is the largest provider of behavioral health services in Palm Beach County.
Qualifications
- ABEM or AOBEM board certification in Emergency Medicine
- Active Florida medical license
- Current DEA registration
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications
If you enjoy a fast‑moving ED with a collaborative team and modern resources for evening and overnight shifts, this could be a great fit.
