Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon — 24‑Hour Call (Lima, OH)

We are seeking a locum cardiothoracic surgeon to provide hospital-based coverage in Lima, Ohio, at a collaborative Level II Trauma Center. This role delivers 24-hour call coverage for adult patients undergoing complex cardiothoracic procedures, with an average of roughly one surgical case per day.

Assignment details

• Setting: Hospital-based, Level II Trauma Center
• Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
• Coverage: 10–14 call days per month, including weekends
• EMR: Epic

Key responsibilities

• Provide continuous 24-hour cardiothoracic surgery call coverage
• Evaluate and manage adult patients requiring cardiothoracic intervention
• Perform emergent and scheduled cardiothoracic surgeries
• Conduct daily inpatient rounds and postoperative care
• Collaborate closely with cardiology, critical care, anesthesia, advanced practice providers, and nursing
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic

Required procedural competency

• Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
• Arterial revascularization (internal mammary, radial, gastroepiploic arteries)
• Redo coronary revascularization, with or without concomitant valve surgery
• Pericardial window
• Heart valve repair and replacement, including mitral valve repair

Qualifications

• Board certified in cardiothoracic surgery with completed accredited fellowship
• Active, unrestricted Ohio medical license
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileges
