Join a correctional healthcare team in Oakdale, Louisiana as a full-time locum tenens physician working Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. (40 hours/week). This role focuses on adult primary care within a correctional facility and offers potential for a long-term contract.
What you’ll do
- Provide direct patient care (about 90% of your time) including evaluation and treatment of acute and chronic conditions.
- Perform comprehensive histories and physicals, urgent and emergency care, and chronic disease management.
- Review and sign diagnostic and consultative reports, complete required clinical forms, and document care in the medical record (EMR TBC).
- Provide clinical guidance to mid-level practitioners, nurses, and EMTs.
- Participate in rounding as required.
Team and setting
- You’ll work alongside one contracted general practice physician and coordinate with the facility’s Clinical Director and Medical Officer.
- Onsite support includes mid-level practitioners, registered nurses, nursing personnel, EMTs, health services administration staff, and correctional personnel.
- The facility supplies government-furnished medical equipment, PPE, supplies, and required forms.
Logistics and requirements
- Patient population: adults; patient volume: to be confirmed.
- Hospital privileges required; temporary privileges are available.
- Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are covered.
- Required credentials: active unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory, BLS and ACLS, DEA license, and NPI.
