Adelphi is seeking a full-time, on-site Speech-Language Pathologist to join a residential care facility in Cameron County, Texas. The SLP will act as the facility’s subject matter expert for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders and provide direct therapeutic services to residents with communication, dysphagia, social-pragmatic, and cognitive needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related communicative sciences field
  • Current, unrestricted Texas SLP license (TDLR)
  • CCC-SLP preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS if required by the facility
  • Understanding of HIPAA and commitment to resident confidentiality
  • Ability and willingness to work on-site with individuals who may have dual diagnoses
  • Compliance with facility and agency policies, health/immunization requirements, and required training
  • Successful completion of drug screening, fingerprinting, and background checks

Core Responsibilities

  • Serve as the facility’s recognized expert on speech, language, and swallowing disorders
  • Assess, diagnose, and document speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function using the electronic health record
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized habilitative and rehabilitative treatment plans
  • Provide direct clinical SLP services to residents and oversee program effectiveness and compliance
  • Evaluate oral, pharyngeal, and esophageal functioning and identify applicable impairments
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, allied health professionals, and administration to ensure continuity of care
  • Train, supervise, and provide feedback to staff delivering habilitation and rehabilitation activities
  • Update or develop treatment protocols based on outcomes and participate in quality assurance and quality enhancement initiatives
  • Participate in assigned meetings and support disaster response, recovery, and Continuity of Operations activities, including alternate shifts or locations when required
