Requirements

  • Medical Assistant credential issued by the Georgia Department of Community Health or the American Association of Medical Assistants
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
  • Prior experience in school clinic, pediatrics, medical office, or student health care preferred
  • Knowledge of basic clinical procedures, infection control, and documentation standards

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing services to students in accordance with district requirements
  • Deliver nursing care for assigned settings (school clinic, transportation, or one-to-one)
  • Assess student health needs and implement appropriate nursing interventions
  • Respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies
  • Administer medications and treatments as authorized
  • Maintain accurate student health records and required documentation
  • Protect student confidentiality in line with FERPA requirements
  • Communicate with school staff, parents/guardians, and healthcare providers about student health needs
  • Ensure compliance with district policies, nursing standards, and applicable regulations
  • Promote a safe and healthy school environment
  • Perform other nursing duties as assigned by the district
