Locum NP/PA Cardiothoracic/Cardiac Surgery (Billings, MT) — Inpatient + Call, Travel/Lodging Covered

Join a cardiovascular surgery team in Billings, MT, as a locum tenens NP covering inpatient cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery care. This role starts ASAP and is ongoing. You’ll work full-time with a minimum one week on/one week off schedule: four 10-hour day shifts (7:00 am–4:00 pm). Call coverage is required Monday–Friday from 4:00 pm–7:00 am, plus weekend rotation (approximately 1:5). Call is beeper-based with a 20-minute response expectation and a 20% call-back rate; overall call ratio is 1:4.

What you’ll do:

• Assist in the OR for cardiothoracic and vascular procedures.
• Perform inpatient rounding and manage assigned surgical patients.
• Handle OR/inpatient call and weekend coverage as scheduled.
• Provide comprehensive perioperative and postoperative care to cardiovascular surgery patients.
• Collaborate closely with RNs, other NP/PAs, surgeons, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient management and discharges.
• Take phone consults as needed (approximately two per shift).

Patient and team environment:

• Typical patient census: about 8 assigned patients.
• Rounding: assigned patients.
• Support staff includes ~6 RNs, 1 MA, 4 PA/NP colleagues, and 1 office staff member.
• EMR: Cerner.

Requirements:

• NP or PA board status: BC/BE.
• Active MT license or participation in the IMLC.
• Current BLS and AHA ACLS certifications.

Logistics:

• Agency covers travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance.
