Locums Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant — EPIC, Level I Trauma, Hartford (Clinical + Call, Travel/Lodging Covered)

We’re seeking a Physician Assistant to join a Level 1 trauma center in Hartford, CT, providing inpatient cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery coverage. This locum tenens role starts ASAP and is ongoing, covering clinical duties plus night and weekend call. Travel, lodging, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Schedule and Setting

• Monday–Friday, 8-hour day shifts with night and weekend call coverage
• Inpatient service with rounding responsibilities
• Coverage at both Saint Francis and Saint Mary’s Hospital (must be local)

Patient Population and Volume

• Caring for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Average daily volume: ~10 patients
• Case mix focused on cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery

Clinical Responsibilities

• Perform pre-operative physical exams and participate in daily rounding
• Assist in the OR for cardiac and thoracic procedures
• Diagnose and manage inpatient illnesses, order and interpret tests
• Coordinate care across teams and services

Procedures You’ll Be Expected to Perform

• Central venous and dialysis catheter placement
• Arterial line placement and intra-aortic balloon pump insertion
• Endoscopic retrieval
• Note: NO balloon pumps

Qualifications

• NCCPA board certified
• Active Connecticut PA license
• BLS and ACLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
• EPIC experience preferred
• Must be local and able to cover both hospitals listed
