Join a busy emergency department in Mauston, WI for a 13-week contract starting September 1, 2026. This day-shift role is for a Registered Nurse with emergency and trauma experience. You’ll work 32-hour weeks with a rate of $1,936 per 32 hours.

• You’ll deliver hands-on emergency care across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric patients.
• You’ll triage using the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) and manage multiple patients while keeping flow and quality of care a priority.
• You’ll collaborate with physicians, ancillary teams, and outside agencies to coordinate efficient, patient-centered care.

What you’ll do:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for emergency patients, documenting care clearly and accurately in the ED record.
• Perform ESI 5-level triage and prioritize patients based on acuity and resource needs.
• Monitor life support and automated equipment, administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and perform emergency resuscitation when needed.
• Respond calmly and effectively during crises, delegate appropriately, and lead others when required.
• Advocate for patients through clear, concise communication with providers and departments; escalate using the chain of command when necessary.
• Ensure rooms and supplies are stocked and equipment is maintained; complete checklists and documentation before leaving shift.
• Teach and mentor pre-hospital providers and students, and participate in required education, audits, and in-services.
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements for consent, transfers, and patient rights.
• Use computerized documentation systems proficiently and complete other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

• Minimum: Associate degree in Nursing; BSN preferred.
• Valid Wisconsin RN license or active Compact Licensure.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required; ATCN preferred.
• At least 2 years of relevant emergency nursing experience.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
