Job Description
Locum tenens opportunity in Duluth, MN (55805-1901) providing outpatient radiation oncology coverage from Oct 1, 2026 – Jan 31, 2027. Clinical-only schedule Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Agency covers travel, lodging, and malpractice. Coverage is supplemental.
Patient volume averages 10–16 patients per day with 3–5 CT simulations daily. The clinic uses Epic and is equipped with two Varian TrueBeam units, a Siemens CT scanner, Varian Eclipse treatment planning, and MIM. Onsite specialty backup includes two radiation oncologists. Support staff: 2 RNs, 1 MA, and 3 office staff.
Hospital privileges are required. Required procedural competencies include linear accelerator treatments, RapidArc/VMAT, electrons, conventional/conformal therapy, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, all types of SRS, hyperfractionation/altered fractionation, conventional treatment planning, beam shaping (MLC), 3D CRT, PET/CT or MRI image fusion, and electronic portal imaging. Preferred experience: CyberKnife, Gamma Knife, IORT, TBI, TSE, and clinical trials.
Qualifications: BC/BE in Radiation Oncology, fellowship required, BLS certification. No specific state license listed; proficiency with Epic, Varian ARIA/Eclipse, and Varian TrueBeam is expected.
Key responsibilities: perform inpatient and outpatient consultations and follow-ups; order and supervise CT simulations; develop, approve, and manage treatment plans (including IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS); participate in chart rounds, peer review, and tumor conferences; manage radiation prescriptions and critical-structure constraints; and collaborate closely with medical physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists.
