Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — Fredericksburg, VA (Ongoing, High-Volume ED)

Join a busy, well-supported Emergency Department in Fredericksburg, Virginia, as a locum Emergency Medicine physician. This is an ongoing opportunity in a high-volume, 24-hour ED housed in a comprehensive hospital with robust specialty and critical care services.

What you'll find here

• A high-volume ED seeing roughly 100 patients per day at the main site (annual volume ~42,000).
• A full complement of diagnostic tools: CT, MRI, ultrasound, X‑ray, and interventional radiology.
• Critical care resources including an ICU, Progressive Care Unit, and advanced cardiac services with catheterization capabilities.
• Obstetric care with a Level III NICU and broad surgical and specialty support.
• Fast Track and main ED coverage for all ages.
• Department productivity expectations around 2–3 patients per hour and an admission rate near 21%.

Your role
You’ll evaluate and manage patients presenting to the ED, diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute and emergent conditions. Responsibilities include stabilizing critically ill and injured patients, performing standard emergency procedures within your scope, coordinating admissions and transfers, and arranging specialty consultations. You’ll work closely with hospitalists, intensivists, specialists, nursing, and ancillary teams, and maintain accurate, timely medical documentation.

What we’re looking for

• Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Active Virginia medical license.
• Current ATLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Prior Emergency Medicine experience.
