Job Description
Board-certified or board-eligible Internal Medicine (MD or DO) physician needed to join a facility-based post-acute/inpatient hospitalist team in Portland, ME. Full-time, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM schedule. No weekends and no call.
Locations:
- Portland, Maine (primary)
- Additional opportunities: Hyannis, MA; Burlington, VT; St. Albans, VT
Schedule & Practice Model:
- Monday–Friday, daytime hours (9 AM–5 PM)
- No weekends, no call
- Facility-based inpatient/post-acute care (skilled nursing/long-term care)
- Full-time, part-time, and PRN roles available
- High clinical autonomy with dedicated clinical support
- Focus on continuity and long-term patient relationships
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Manage medically complex hospitalized and post-acute patients
- Coordinate care with nursing, therapy, case management, and families
- Perform admissions, daily management, discharge planning, and follow-up
- Document appropriately and communicate transitions of care
Compensation & Benefits:
- Guaranteed salary range: $200,000–$500,000+ (most full-time physicians earn $300K–$500K)

Minimum Qualifications:
- MD or DO from accredited medical school
- Board certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine; Family Medicine, Geriatrics, or related specialties considered
- Active, unrestricted state medical license or eligibility for licensure
- DEA registration or eligibility to obtain
- Experience in hospital medicine, post-acute care, skilled nursing, long-term care, geriatrics, or internal medicine preferred
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ability to travel between facilities as needed
