Executive Director, Patient Care - Critical Care Services (RN)
The Executive Director of Patient Care Services will oversee Critical Care service lines at a local Hospital in Baltimore, which includes the ICU, ICU Step Down, and Neuroscience units. The PCS Executive Director is a dynamic and seasoned leader responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality patient care across multiple departments, patient populations, and service lines at the hospital. The position combines strategic leadership with operational management, focusing on patient outcomes, staff recruitment and retention, regulatory compliance, and efficient resource allocation.
Leadership & Strategic Oversight:
- Lead the development and execution of patient care strategies in alignment with the organization’s mission and overall objectives.
- Develop and implement strategic goals, objectives, and policies to enhance operational efficiency, quality of care, and patient safety across all covered areas.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across Patient Care Services.
- Work closely with other hospital leadership teams to align patient care services with organizational goals and objectives.
Clinical Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of patient care units, ensuring adherence to best practices, policies, and protocols in collaboration with patient care services nurse leaders.
- Implement and monitor clinical processes to ensure the highest standards of care across all departments.
- Maintain a focus on optimizing operational efficiency, nursing productivity and patient flow.
- Develop and manage initiatives to improve patient care processes, enhance patient outcomes, and reduce variability and costs.
Staff Management & Development:
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to nursing and patient care staff.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and retention strategies to ensure the department is staffed with highly skilled professionals.
- Implement performance appraisals, staff evaluations, and address any performance concerns through a clear and effective process.
Financial & Resource Management:
- Develop and manage budgets for all patient care departments, ensuring cost-effective use of resources while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Analyze financial reports and make data-driven decisions to improve cost efficiency while adhering to quality standards.
- Optimize resource allocation, ensuring that both staffing levels and material resources are aligned with patient demand and operational needs.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission standards, OSHA, HIPAA, and any applicable local/state/national guidelines.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols.
- Regularly assess clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction data, acting as necessary to achieve the organizational goal of zero harm.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Foster a collaborative environment among clinical, operational, and administrative teams to ensure integrated care delivery.
- Maintain effective communication channels with patients, families, and staff to address concerns, improve patient experiences, and resolve conflicts.
- Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, addressing any operational challenges and facilitating effective problem-solving.
Qualifications and Requrirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive leadership experience, ideally with a focus in critical care services.
- Master's degree required; DNP preferred.
- Registered Nurse License - Current Maryland license or eligibility to obtain Maryland license.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Strong knowledge of processes, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Compensation:
Base Salary - USD $130,000 to $185,000 + DOE
