Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon — Paducah, KY (24-hr Hospital Shifts, Dec 24–Jan 4)

We are seeking a Board-Certified locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide hospital-based coverage in Paducah, Kentucky. This role focuses on adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery, plus management of high-acuity cardiothoracic patients in the ICU.

Assignment details

• Setting: Hospital-based
• Shift type: 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
• Schedule: Weekend coverage and call required
• Typical case volume: 1–2 cardiothoracic surgical cases per day
• Annual ED volume at facility: ~30,000

Available coverage blocks (candidates must be available for one)

• Preferred: Dec 24–Dec 28 (priority given)
• Dec 28–Jan 4

Core responsibilities

• Perform adult cardiac surgery, including CABG, arterial revascularization using internal mammary and radial arteries, redo cardiac procedures, and valve repair/replacement
• Provide general thoracic procedures such as tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS (including decortication and lung biopsy), and pericardial window
• Manage critically ill cardiothoracic patients in the ICU, including medical management and device procedures (Impella insertion, removal, and bailout)
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and safe perioperative management

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Kentucky medical license
• Current BLS certification
• Demonstrated experience in adult cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, and high-acuity ICU care
