Locum Tenens Trauma & Surgical Critical Care Physician (Pulmonary/Critical Care) — Worcester, MA

Join a high-volume trauma center in Worcester, Massachusetts, as a locums Critical Care and Trauma Surgery physician providing inpatient trauma and surgical critical care coverage. This fast-paced role offers strong multidisciplinary support and a minimum anticipated assignment of three months, with paid travel.

Compensation: $325–$400 per hour

Assignment details

• Location: Worcester, MA
• Minimum length: 3 months (flexible for longer)
• Current need: 16 open shifts in December; additional coverage expected January–March
• Travel: paid

Schedule

• Weekday clinical: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Weekday call: 4:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend call: 6:00 AM – 7:00 AM

Clinical responsibilities

• Manage a trauma inpatient census averaging 30–50 patients
• Daytime coverage shared by two attending physicians
• Respond to ~10–20 trauma activations per 24-hour period (90–95% blunt trauma)
• Some call shifts include emergency general surgery coverage
• Handle approximately 0–8 emergency general surgery consults per call, and perform 0–3 emergency operative cases as needed (e.g., perforated viscus)

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts medical license
• Surgical Critical Care fellowship required
• DEA registration and controlled substance registration (CSR) required
• Experience with Epic EMR
