Job Description

Highpoint Health Sumner – with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Pediatrician to launch and grow a new pediatric practice at Sumner Station in Gallatin, Tennessee, just 30 minutes north of Nashville.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Highpoint Health Sumner at the beginning of a significant investment in pediatric care. Sumner Station is planned for hospital expansion that will include a dedicated Pediatric Emergency Department and Pediatric Unit, creating an opportunity for the incoming physician to help establish a pediatric practice alongside a growing continuum of pediatric services.

For a physician who enjoys building relationships, developing a patient base, and helping shape a program from the ground up, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on pediatric care in a rapidly growing Middle Tennessee community.

Position Highlights

  • Brand-new pediatric practice located at Sumner Station
  • Hospital-employed position
  • Anticipated Monday–Friday schedule
  • Opportunity to build and develop a pediatric patient panel from the ground up
  • Practice alongside the planned expansion of pediatric services at Sumner Station, including a dedicated Pediatric ER and Pediatric Unit
  • Expected inpatient rounding responsibilities for pediatric patients admitted at Sumner Station
  • Collegial support from two established primary care providers in the area—one physician and one nurse practitioner—who also care for pediatric patients
  • Established community and primary care network to support referrals and practice growth
  • Dedicated clinic support, including:
    • Office Manager
    • Front desk staff
    • Medical Assistant
  • Initial practice will include one employed pediatrician, allowing the incoming physician to play a significant role in shaping the practice
  • Plans to add an APP as patient volume increases, followed by an additional APP as the pediatric service line continues to grow
  • Future opportunity for APP supervision, mentorship, and clinical leadership

Build More Than a Practice

This opportunity is ideal for a pediatrician who is energized by growth and wants the ability to influence how pediatric care develops within a community.

The incoming physician will serve as the foundation of the new pediatric practice, with the resources and support of Highpoint Health Sumner behind them. As the patient base grows, the team is expected to expand with additional advanced practice provider support, creating the opportunity to develop and lead a collaborative pediatric team.

Just as importantly, the practice will be positioned alongside the planned expansion of Sumner Station into a hospital campus with dedicated pediatric emergency and inpatient capabilities. The incoming physician will have the opportunity to be part of that growth from its earliest stages.

Recruitment Package

Highpoint Health Sumner offers a competitive recruitment package that may include:

  • Competitive base salary with productivity incentives
  • Sign-on bonus
  • Relocation assistance
  • Student loan assistance
