Locum Cardiothoracic Surgeon — Hospital-Based (Paducah, KY)

We are seeking a Board-Certified locum cardiothoracic surgeon to provide hospital-based coverage in Paducah, Kentucky. This role focuses on adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery, plus management of high-acuity cardiothoracic patients in the ICU.

Assignment details

• Setting: Hospital-based
• Shift: 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
• Schedule: Weekend coverage and call required
• Case volume: Average 1–2 cardiothoracic surgical cases per day
• Annual ED volume: ~30,000

Coverage availability (must be available for one block)

• Dec 24–Dec 28 — preferred and will be prioritized
• Dec 28–Jan 4

Key responsibilities

• Adult cardiac surgery: CABG, arterial revascularization using internal mammary and radial arteries, redo cardiac operations, valve repair and replacement
• General thoracic procedures: tube thoracostomy, tracheostomy, bronchoscopy, VATS (including decortication and lung biopsy), pericardial window
• Critical care: management of high-risk and critically ill cardiothoracic patients in the ICU, Impella insertion/removal and bailout, and comprehensive medical management of critically ill patients

Qualifications

• Board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Kentucky medical license
• Current BLS certification
• Demonstrated experience in adult cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, and high-acuity ICU care
