Locums Emergency Medicine NP or PA — Independence, MO (Ongoing, AM/Mid Shifts)

Overview
Provide ongoing locum coverage in a busy emergency department, working as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) within a collaborative, fast-paced team.

Position Details

• Start: Ongoing coverage
• Schedule: Primarily morning and mid-day shifts
• Call: None
• EMR: Electronic medical record in use
• Volume: ~80 ED visits per day
• Admission rate: ~3.5%
• Support: Collaborative physician and nursing coverage
• Case mix: Broad range of emergency presentations requiring routine ED procedures

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage low- to moderate-acuity emergency patients
• Perform common ED procedures, including laceration repair, splinting/fracture stabilization, incision and drainage, wound care, and other routine procedures
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, imaging)
• Collaborate with emergency physicians, nurses, and ancillary teams to deliver timely care
• Accurately document patient encounters in the EMR

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• Board certified as NP or PA
• Active Missouri license or ability to obtain one
• Prior emergency department experience required
