Nocturnist Hospitalist Physician — Full-Time, Teaching Opportunity (Boston, MA)

Join a collaborative, well-supported hospitalist team in Boston as a nocturnist physician. This full-time, hospital-employed role balances admissions and inpatient care while offering teaching opportunities and potential for an academic appointment. You’ll work alongside experienced peers in a team-focused environment with manageable patient volumes and strong backup support.

What you can expect

• Schedule: Weeknight shifts typically 6:45 PM–7:00 AM and weekend shifts 6:30 PM–7:00 AM (one weekend shift may extend to 7:30 AM). There is one daytime weekend shift, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, covering 10 patients.
• Shift load: Average 12 shifts per month (12-hour shifts).
• Clinical workload: Usually 4–5 admissions per shift with cross-coverage responsibility for 30–40 patients.
• Team structure: Nine nocturnists on service each night with sick-call backup to ensure coverage and mutual support.
• Academic and teaching: Opportunities to teach medical students and residents; academic appointment possibilities.
• New graduates: Strong mentorship available — new grads are welcome.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited institution.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Completion of an accredited residency program.
• Eligible for a Massachusetts medical license.
• Prior hospitalist experience is preferred but not required.
