Locum Emergency Medicine Physician — 12-hr Shifts, Texas City, TX (Day/Night Coverage)

Location: Texas City, Texas

Schedule

• 12-hour day and night shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekday, weekend, and night coverage available
• On-site clinical coverage
• No call required

Clinical environment

• Busy ED with average daily census of 55–60 patients (≈2 patients/hour; occasional surges ≥8/hour)
• Mixed medical and traumatic presentations; severe or penetrating trauma is uncommon
• Collaborative team with experienced emergency nurses and clinical support staff

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of emergency conditions
• Perform ED procedures, including endotracheal intubation, procedural sedation, fracture reduction/splinting, chest tube placement, CPR, laceration repair, incision & drainage, and central venous line placement
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and other diagnostics
• Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate specialty care/transfer as needed
• Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record

Common case mix

• Chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath
• Falls, motor vehicle collisions, sports-related injuries
• Routine emergency medical and trauma presentations

Qualifications

• ABEM board certification preferred; experienced EM physicians with equivalent training and substantial ED experience will be considered
• Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure
• Current DEA registration
• Current ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications as required
