Locums Emergency Medicine Physician

A high-volume Emergency Department in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a Locums Emergency Medicine Physician to join its experienced clinical team. This opportunity is ideal for a physician who enjoys a fast-paced environment with a diverse patient population, high-acuity cases, complex medical conditions, and a broad range of emergency procedures.

Position Highlights

• Schedule: Providers must be flexible to work days, nights, and weekends
• Call: No call required
• Patient Volume: Average daily census of approximately 106 patients
• Annual Admission Rate: Approximately 34%

Shift Schedule

Available physician shifts include:

• 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
• 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
• 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM

Clinical Environment

This Emergency Department provides care for a broad range of emergency conditions, including:

• High-acuity and critically ill patients
• Trauma cases, including penetrating trauma
• Complex medical emergencies
• Patients requiring transfers and specialty care

The practice environment includes:

• High procedural volume
• Significant transfer activity from surrounding facilities
• Occasional psychiatric evaluations utilizing telehealth technology

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients presenting with emergency medical conditions
• Perform all standard Emergency Department procedures
• Stabilize critically ill and injured patients
• Manage complex cases and coordinate transfers when appropriate
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and ancillary teams
• Provide timely, evidence-based emergency care and accurate medical documentation

Support Staff

• Comprehensive Emergency Department support team
• All standard ED support services available
• Pediatric coverage is not included

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine (ABEM or AOBEM)
• Active Missouri medical license or ability to obtain licensure
• Current DEA registration
• ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications as required
