Locums Cardiothoracic Surgery PA/NP — 24‑Hour On‑Call, First‑Assist & Vein Harvesting (Lincoln, NE)

We are seeking an experienced locum Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide 24-hour call coverage in Lincoln, Nebraska. The right candidate will bring strong cardiothoracic surgical skills, including first-assist experience and proficiency in endoscopic and/or open vein harvesting.

Assignment details

• Setting: Hospital
• Coverage: 24-hour on-call (includes overnight phone consults and emergent operative cases)
• EMR: Epic

Key responsibilities

• First assist in a broad range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures.
• Perform endoscopic and/or open vein harvesting.
• Manage perioperative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients, including preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up.
• Participate in 24-hour call rotation, responding to phone consults and emergent operative needs.
• Collaborate closely with the cardiothoracic surgery team to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in Epic.

Qualifications

• Board-certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
• Active Nebraska PA or NP license.
• Extensive cardiothoracic surgery experience with demonstrated first-assist proficiency.
• Required experience performing vein harvesting.
• Current BLS; ACLS preferred.
