Emergency Medicine Physician — Aiken, SC (Hospital & Freestanding ED; Independent Contractor)

Join a team of 16 emergency physicians and 9 advanced practice providers delivering emergency care in Aiken, SC and nearby North Augusta, GA.

Facility and practice locations

• Medical Center (Aiken, SC): 273-bed community hospital; 30-bed Emergency Department; certified Chest Pain and Stroke Center.
• The ER at Sweetwater (North Augusta, GA): 10-bed freestanding emergency department.

Volume and coverage

• Medical Center ED: ~43,000 annual visits. Physician coverage: 39 hours/day; APP coverage: 30 hours/day.
• The ER at Sweetwater: ~23,000 annual visits. Physician coverage: 24 hours/day; APP coverage: 12 hours/day.

Clinical and professional responsibilities

• Provide full-spectrum emergency care across both sites.
• Participate in hospital committees (credentials, sepsis, peer review, medical executive).
• Collaborate with consultants and specialty services.
• Support and teach APP students and internal/family medicine residents.

Schedule, employment model, and compensation

• Independent contractor role; flexible scheduling.
• Full-time requirement: minimum 120 hours/month.
• Compensation: $300/hour (day), $325/hour (night).
• $75,000 sign-on bonus available with full-time shift commitment.

Requirements

• Board-certified or board-eligible in Emergency Medicine, or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
