Job Description

Join a collaborative anesthesia team at a busy Level I Trauma center in Fort Lauderdale, FL, covering a high-volume surgical practice with a diverse and complex case mix. This full-time locum tenens opportunity is ideal for an experienced CRNA who enjoys variety, teamwork, and a fast-paced clinical environment.

What the schedule looks like

  • Monday–Friday primary schedule
  • Typical shift: 7:00 AM–3:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
  • Full-time coverage required (approximately 4 weeks per month)
  • Flexibility with shift length and location may be needed based on staffing
  • Must be willing to work call, nights, and weekends as part of the coverage rotation

Call details

  • Shared CRNA call rotation
  • Roughly one weekend every other month
  • Saturday and Sunday beeper call

Practice setting

  • Hospital-based, high-volume anesthesia service (about 1,200 surgical cases per month)
  • Care team model: ~80% independent cases, ~20% medically directed/supervised

Typical case mix
You’ll provide anesthesia across a broad range of specialties, including but not limited to:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopedics
  • Obstetrics & Gynecology
  • ENT
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • Urology
  • Electrophysiology (EP)
  • Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS)
  • Oncology
  • Dental Surgery
  • Vascular and Thoracic Surgery
  • Gastroenterology

The bulk of cases are Orthopedics, General Surgery, OB/GYN, ENT, Plastic, Cardiothoracic, Neurosurgery, and GI.

Required clinical experience
Candidates should be comfortable managing:

  • Adult Level I trauma cases
  • Pediatric Level II trauma cases
  • Level III NICU patients
  • Trauma, cardiothoracic, obstetric, and pediatric anesthesia

Facility and systems

  • Adult Level I Trauma Center; Pediatric Level II Trauma Center; Level III NICU
  • EMR: Epic (proficiency test-out available)

Qualifications

  • Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), board certified
  • Minimum 2 years CRNA experience (no new graduates)
  • Active Florida CRNA license
  • Current BLS, PALS, and ATLS certifications
  • Required pediatric anesthesia experience
  • Preferred experience with trauma, cardiothoracic, obstetric, and other complex surgical cases

Additional important details

  • Candidates must reside outside Florida (Florida-based providers will not be considered)
  • An out-of-state driver’s license must be provided with your presentation
  • Day-only availability cannot be accommodated; providers must be willing to work days, nights, call, and weekends
  • Rush credentialing is available; temporary privileges may be possible in as little as 3–4 weeks for providers with a clean file and an active Florida license
