Locum Tenens Neurosurgeon — Hospital-Based Inpatient Coverage (Lima, OH)

Board-certified locum neurosurgeon needed for hospital-based inpatient coverage in Lima, Ohio.

Assignment details

• Dates: September 24–October 5
• Setting: Hospital inpatient (Level II Trauma Center)
• Patient population: Adults and geriatric patients
• Operating rooms: 10
• Neurosurgeons on staff: 1
• EMR: Epic

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive neurosurgical care for adult trauma and complex cranial and spinal cases, including emergency and neurocritical care.
• Perform evaluation, operative management, and postoperative care for traumatic brain injury, intracranial hemorrhage, aneurysms, brain tumors, and other cranial pathologies.
• Manage intracranial pressure: burr holes, intracranial pressure monitor placement, ventriculostomy, ventricular taps.
• Perform cerebrospinal fluid procedures: ventriculoperitoneal shunt insertion, revisions, taps, and programming.
• Provide trauma repair and clot removal as indicated.
• Perform movement disorder procedures and deep brain stimulation (DBS) as indicated; participate in stereotactic radiosurgery care when applicable.
• Provide full-spectrum spine care: discectomy, laminectomy, spinal fusion, vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty, stabilization and reconstruction.
• Participate in on-call coverage and coordinate care with trauma, critical care, and ancillary teams.

Credentials and requirements

• Board certified in Neurosurgery
• Active Ohio medical license (or ability to obtain quickly)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

• Hospital-based assignment; Epic EMR in use
• Collaborative practice with one on-site neurosurgeon and multidisciplinary teams
