Locum Tenens Emergency Medicine Physician — Level III Trauma Center (North Adams, MA)

We’re looking for an experienced Emergency Medicine physician to provide locum coverage at a busy Level III Trauma Center in North Adams, Massachusetts. This is a great opportunity if you enjoy a fast-paced ED with strong team support and a varied case mix.

Compensation: $350 per hour

• Annual ED visits: ~55,000
• Hospital beds: 32
• EMR: Meditech
• APP support on shift
• About 30% admission rate; hospitalists manage admissions
• Physicians are not responsible for codes; deliveries go directly to Labor & Delivery
• ED physicians provide radio medical direction for paramedics and ambulance crews

Typical Shifts & Scheduling

• Shift lengths available: 12-, 11-, and 8-hour options
• Primary night shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Additional shift times may include 1:00 PM–9:00 PM and 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
• Weekend coverage is required
• No on-call responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage patients presenting to the ED across a broad range of acute and emergent conditions
• Perform appropriate emergency procedures and stabilize patients
• Coordinate patient care with hospitalists, consultants, and clinical staff, and arrange transfers when needed
• Provide radio medical direction to paramedics and ambulance personnel
• Complete timely, accurate medical documentation

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts medical license required (MA-licensed providers given priority)
• ABEM board certified or board eligible within 5 years of residency
• Current BLS, ACLS, and ATLS certifications
