Job Description
Locums opportunity for a Board‑Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon at a Level I trauma hospital in Lansing, MI. Hospital‑based role providing weekday onsite coverage with nighttime call. Start: ASAP.
Schedule & Logistics
- Monday–Friday daytime clinic/operating hours
- Nighttime call only; no scheduled weekend call
- Coverage preferred 3+ weeks per month
- EMR: Epic
- Must be able to work independently
Facility & Case Volume
- Adult patient population
- Level I trauma center
- Two dedicated cardiovascular surgery ORs during daytime hours
- Average urgent/emergent volume: ~1 case per weekend
Required Responsibilities / Procedures (independent management and performance)
- Adult cardiac surgery (including CABG)
- Heart valve repair/replacement
- General thoracic surgery
- Tube thoracostomy
- Pericardial window
- Thoracotomy (including lung biopsy, lung resection, pneumonectomy)
- Thoracotomy decortication
- Mediastinal surgery
Required Qualifications
- Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Active Michigan medical license
- BLS, ACLS, PALS
- Demonstrated ability to independently perform the procedures listed above
