Locum Tenens Hospitalist Physician — Gainesville, FL (Day/Night, ICU Rounding)

We’re looking for an experienced locum hospitalist to join an on-site inpatient team in Gainesville, Georgia. This role is a great fit for a physician who’s comfortable managing medically complex patients in a busy tertiary-care, teaching hospital and who’s open to both day and night coverage, weekends, and call.

Schedule and caseload

• Day shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 PM; Night shifts: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
• Weekend coverage and call required
• Typical rounding census: about 20–22 patients per physician
• Hospitalists manage roughly 75% of the hospital’s census
• ICU rounding is required; no trauma service
• Consulting physicians typically see about 12–20 patients per day
• Facility size: 532-bed hospital

Clinical environment
You’ll be practicing in a high-acuity tertiary-care medical center with strong specialty and critical care support, including:

• Intensive Care Unit
• Comprehensive stroke services
• STEMI services and a complex cardiac center
• Transplant and Cellular Therapy (TCT) services
• Graduate Medical Education (GME) teaching program
• Robust multidisciplinary specialty support

What you’ll do
As a hospitalist on this team, you’ll:

• Perform daily rounds and evaluate hospitalized patients
• Manage acute and chronic medical conditions and coordinate admissions and discharges
• Provide ICU rounding and care for critically ill patients
• Work closely with consultants, specialists, nursing staff, residents, APPs, and the broader care team
• Care for medically complex patients in a tertiary-care setting

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
• Hospitalist experience required, with a minimum of one year of relevant experience
• Active Georgia medical license and DEA required
