Locum Tenens Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Boston, MA

Join a specialized NeuroCritical Care team in Boston providing high-acuity care for complex neurology and neurosurgery patients in a Neurosciences ICU. This locum tenens role offers hands-on clinical practice within a multidisciplinary group of attendings, fellows, residents, and APPs.

Schedule and pay

• Approximately 3-4 twelve-hour shifts per week (about 40 hours/week)
• Rotating day, night, and weekend coverage
• Locum tenens assignment with potential for extended or ongoing coverage
• Compensation: $120.00 per hour

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients with acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions
• Participate in daily rounds and collaborate with the NeuroCritical Care team to develop and implement treatment plans
• Perform focused histories and comprehensive neurological examinations; coordinate specialty consultations
• Provide clear communication and education to patients and families
• Complete inpatient consultations and maintain accurate EMR documentation
• Perform procedures as credentialed and clinically appropriate, including central and arterial line placement, intubation, lumbar puncture, lumbar drain placement/removal, nasogastric tube placement, staple/suture placement/removal, wound care/packing, and spine brace/cervical collar management

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts NP or PA license
• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program with national certification in the appropriate discipline
• NeuroCritical Care, critical care, neurology, or neurosurgery experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work rotating days, nights, and weekends
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary team
