Locum Tenens General Inpatient Cardiologist needed

We are seeking a board-certified cardiologist to provide hospital-based general cardiology coverage while a permanent physician is recruited in New York. The locum will manage inpatient consultations, daily rounds and ongoing care for a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, coordinating closely with hospitalists, emergency medicine, critical care and other services.

Anticipated start: ~November 2026
Duration: ~6 months (strong possibility of extension)
Schedule: Two-week blocks twice per month, including two weekends per month; typical shift 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Recurring block availability preferred. Exact rotation and start date to be confirmed.

Clinical responsibilities

• Perform inpatient general cardiology consultations and daily rounding on assigned and follow-up patients
• Evaluate and manage congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, chest pain/acute coronary syndromes, arrhythmias, hypertension, valvular disease, syncope and other cardiovascular conditions
• Review ECGs, telemetry and relevant diagnostic studies; interpret findings and develop treatment plans and discharge recommendations
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary team and communicate clearly with patients and families
• Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation

Potential diagnostic/procedural duties (subject to client confirmation)

• ECG, echocardiogram and stress-test interpretation
• Nuclear cardiology studies, transesophageal echo (TEE)
• Cardioversion
• Participation in rapid-response or code coverage

Required qualifications

• MD or DO; fellowship trained in Cardiovascular Disease
• Board certified in Cardiology (board eligible candidates will not be considered)
• Active, unrestricted New York medical license (New York is not an IMLC state)
• Active DEA registration and appropriate prescriptive authority
• Current BLS and ACLS
• Recent inpatient general cardiology experience and ability to work independently in an acute-care hospital
• Availability for recurring two-week blocks and weekend coverage

Licensing and credentialing

• An active New York medical license is required; temporary hospital privileges may be granted to qualified physicians with a complete, clean credentialing file
• Candidates should be prepared to provide all required credentialing and privileging documentation promptly
