Locums Emergency Medicine Physician - Overland Park, KS (ABEM, 9-hr Rotational Shifts)

Location: Overland Park, Kansas

Schedule and Orientation

• Rotational 9-hour shifts (morning, mid, night); includes weekends and nights as needed
• No call required
• Orientation: 2-day shadow period (2 shadow/orientation shifts) with EMR training

Clinical Requirements

• ABEM board certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience
• Active Kansas medical license required
• DEA registration required

ED Details

• Main ED: 24 beds + 7 vertical pathway spaces + 2 intake rooms
• Volume: ~1.6-1.8 patients/hour; ~40,000 ED visits/year
• Patient acuity: primarily ESI 2 and 3
• Admission rate: ~35%
• Level II Trauma Center
• Typical daytime staffing: minimum 1 physician + 1 APP; nurse/APP triage for lower-acuity patients
• Fast-paced, high-efficiency environment with standard ER support staff (critical care nurses, techs, APPs)

Additional Coverage Notes

• Primary assignment at the main ED
• Two associated freestanding ERs (FSERs) see ~13-17 patients/day each; some hours may be allocated to FSERs (TBD)
