Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon - Level I Trauma Hospital, Lansing MI

A locum tenens opportunity is available for a Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide hospital-based coverage at a Level I trauma center in Lansing, Michigan. This role requires weekday, onsite clinical work with nighttime call responsibilities and the ability to function autonomously.

Schedule and Practice Details

• Start: ASAP
• Days: Monday-Friday (clinic hours) with night call
• Coverage expectation: Prefer candidates available 3+ weeks per month
• Weekend call: None (average ~1 case per weekend)
• Practice setting: Hospital-based, Level I trauma
• OR access: Two dedicated cardiovascular surgery ORs during daytime hours
• EMR: Epic

Clinical Responsibilities

• Independently manage and perform adult cardiothoracic surgical cases, including but not limited to:
  • Adult cardiac surgery (CABG; valve repair/replacement)
  • General thoracic surgery (lung biopsy, lung resection, pneumonectomy)
  • Tube thoracostomy and pericardial window
  • Thoracotomy and thoracotomy decortication
  • Mediastinal surgery

Required Qualifications

• Board Certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Michigan medical license
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• Proven ability to independently perform the listed cardiothoracic procedures

This role is ideal for a self-sufficient, experienced cardiothoracic surgeon comfortable working in a high-acuity, trauma-focused hospital environment.
