Locum Cardiothoracic/Vascular Surgery PA or NP - Inpatient (Springfield, OH)

Springfield, Ohio - Locum tenens opportunity providing inpatient cardiothoracic and vascular surgery coverage at a Level II Trauma Center.

Practice details

• Setting: 100% inpatient
• Patient population: Adult and geriatric
• Average daily census: ~20-26 patients
• Trauma level: Level II
• EMR: Epic

Schedule & call

• Regular hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Weekday floor/beeper call: 3:00 PM-7:00 AM
• Weekend: required; Saturday & Sunday provide 24-hour onsite support with floor and/or OR call
• Call types: in-house and beeper/phone

Key responsibilities

• Provide post-operative care and daily management of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery inpatients
• Round on and manage hospitalized patients, including consults from ED, Cath Lab, and hospital services
• Assist in cardiothoracic and vascular surgical procedures and provide emergency surgical support as needed
• Perform vein harvesting and retrieve vascular tissue for bypass conduits
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe medications as appropriate
• Coordinate care with surgeons, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team

Requirements

• Board certified Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP)
• Prior vascular surgery experience required
• Active Ohio license required at time of application (candidates who need to obtain Ohio license will not be considered)
• Active ACLS certification
• Active DEA registration
