Locums Cardiothoracic Surgeon - Hospital-Based 24-Hour Coverage (Paducah, KY)

We are seeking a Board-Certified cardiothoracic surgeon to provide hospital-based locum coverage in Paducah, Kentucky. This role encompasses adult cardiac and general thoracic surgery, plus management of high-acuity cardiothoracic patients in the ICU.

Assignment details

• Setting: Hospital-based
• Shift: 24-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:00 AM)
• Weekend coverage: Required
• Call: Required
• Average CT surgical cases: 1-2 per day
• Annual ED volume: ~30,000

Open dates (candidates must be available for one of the following blocks)

• Dec 24-Dec 28 (preferred; candidates with this availability will be prioritized)
• Dec 28-Jan 4

Key responsibilities
Adult cardiac surgery

• Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), including arterial revascularization with internal mammary and radial conduits
• Redo cardiac surgery
• Valve repair and replacement procedures

General thoracic surgery

• Tube thoracostomy and tracheostomy
• Bronchoscopy
• VATS procedures (e.g., decortication, lung biopsy)
• Pericardial window procedures

Critical care and ICU management

• Care of high-risk and critically ill cardiothoracic surgery patients
• Impella insertion, removal, and bailout procedures
• Medical management of critically ill patients in the ICU

Requirements

• Board certified in Cardiothoracic Surgery
• Active Kentucky medical license
• Current BLS certification
• Experience in adult cardiac surgery, general thoracic surgery, and high-acuity ICU management
