• Inpatient neurology coverage
• Potential for additional future dates

Scope of practice

• Manage acute neurologic conditions in the inpatient setting
• Perform a broad range of inpatient neurologic procedures (see required skills)

Required skills & procedures

Mandatory

• Thrombolytic therapy for stroke
• Electroencephalography (EEG)
• Electromyography (EMG)
• Spinal/paraspinal/epidural blocks
• Brain death examinations
• Lumbar puncture
• Subdural tap

Preferred (non-mandatory)

• Nerve biopsy
• Muscle biopsy
• Nerve conduction velocity (NCV) testing
• Botulinum toxin (Botox) administration
• Evoked potentials
• Peripheral nerve blocks

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology (Board Eligible physicians must obtain certification within 5 years of residency)
• Active Virginia medical license
• Minimum 2+ years of clinical experience
• Current BLS certification
• Flu vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions may be considered)
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical or religious exemptions may be considered)
