Locum Emergency Medicine Physician - Texas City, TX (12-hr Shifts, Day/Night)

Location: Texas City, Texas

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts: days (7:00 AM-7:00 PM) and nights (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Weekday, weekend, and night coverage available
• No call required
• On-site clinical coverage

Clinical environment

• Busy ED with average daily census of 55-60 patients
• Typical throughput ~2 patients/hour; occasional surge volumes (8+ patients/hour)
• Mixed medical and trauma population; severe/penetrating trauma uncommon
• Collaborative team with experienced nursing and clinical support

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a broad range of emergency conditions
• Perform common ED procedures: endotracheal intubation, procedural sedation, fracture reduction/splinting, chest tube placement, CPR, laceration repair, incision & drainage, central venous line placement
• Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostics
• Stabilize critically ill/injured patients and coordinate specialty care/transfer as needed
• Accurately document encounters in the electronic medical record

Common case mix

• Chest pain, abdominal pain, shortness of breath
• Falls, motor vehicle collisions, sports-related injuries
• Routine emergency medical and trauma presentations

Qualifications

• ABEM board certification preferred; experienced EM physicians with equivalent training considered
• Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain
• Current DEA registration
• ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and BLS certifications as required
