PRN Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Willing to Train)

We’re looking for a motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our expanding Neurosurgery team in Rapid City, SD. Whether you’re an experienced surgical APP or an early-career provider, we’ll invest in your development - comprehensive training is available for candidates who bring a solid clinical foundation and a genuine interest in surgical care.

What you’ll do

• Evaluate, treat, and manage patients with neurological conditions in both the hospital and clinic settings.
• Conduct hospital rounds, consultations, and post-operative follow-ups under neurosurgeon supervision.
• First-assist in the operating room for neurosurgical procedures.
• Perform and assist with bedside procedures as appropriate within your scope of practice.
• Manage clinic visits, including pre- and post-operative assessments and conservative treatment plans.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical care, and follow-up.
• Collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, nursing staff, and other specialists to support excellent patient outcomes.
• Accurately document all patient encounters and procedures in the EMR.
• Participate in shared call coverage as part of a team rotation.

What we’re looking for

• Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Current or eligible licensure in South Dakota.
• BLS and ACLS required (or ability to obtain prior to start).
• Surgical or neurology/neurosurgery experience is a plus; however, formal training will be provided.
• Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
• A desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and hands-on environment.
