Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Trauma Surgery / Emergency General Surgery APP for locum tenens coverage at a busy Level I Trauma Center in Fort Worth, Texas.

This is an inpatient role supporting a high-volume trauma and surgical service. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Level I Trauma and Surgical Trauma ICU (STICU) care and be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Schedule
Approximately 16 shifts needed in October
12-hour shifts
Primary schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Specific shift dates to be finalized
In-house coverage only
No additional call responsibilities beyond the scheduled shift

Clinical Responsibilities
Provide inpatient care for Trauma and Emergency General Surgery patients
Evaluate and manage acutely injured and critically ill surgical patients
Support the Trauma Surgery and Emergency General Surgery teams
Participate in daily patient management and clinical decision-making
Manage patients in the STICU as appropriate
Perform assessments, histories, and physical examinations
Order and review diagnostic studies
Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with attending surgeons
Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning
Monitor patients for changes in clinical condition
Respond to urgent and emergent trauma-related issues
Provide appropriate patient and family education
Complete accurate and timely documentation in Epic
Patient Volume
Patient encounters per shift: Variable
Candidates should be comfortable managing a high-acuity and high-volume service
Support Staff
Day Coverage:
5 surgeons
4 additional APPs
Night Coverage:
2 surgeons
1 additional APP
The locum APP will work as part of a multidisciplinary Trauma / EGS team.

Candidate Requirements
Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Prior Trauma Surgery / Emergency General Surgery experience required
Strong Level I Trauma Center experience
STICU experience required
ATLS required
Comfortable working overnight shifts
Able to function effectively in a very busy, high-acuity trauma environment
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, APPs, nursing, and other hospital teams
Ideal Candidate

Extensive Level I Trauma experience
Strong STICU background
Experience managing complex trauma and surgical patients
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Confidence managing critically ill surgical patients
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to integrate quickly into an established trauma service
